The WVU Center for Excellence in STEM Education seeks to engage the West Virginia STEM Education community through STEM Education Colloquium, STEM Education Professional Development, and STEM Research Dissemination. 

Hour of Code

WVUCE-STEM invited the WVU community and locals to celebrate Computer Science Education Week, Dec. 4-10, by participating in an Hour of Code on Tuesday, December 5, at the WVU Downtown Library in Classroom 136, between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WVUCE-STEM also partnered with Mylan Park Elementary School to host an Hour of Code on Friday, December 8, 2017. All 400 students at the school participated in the event. Senators Capito and Manchin and State Superintendent Dr. Paine were unable to be in attendance, however, they sent along the following three video messages for the students at Mylan Park Elementary School:

The Hour of Code has become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science education and WVUCE-STEM encourages anyone to attend who is interest in trying out coding, wants to promote computer science education, or just needs an hour break from hectic schedules.
